Pre Install Guidance

Prior to commencing groundworks or scheduling a pergola installation, kindly review our foundational guidance below to facilitate discussions with your landscaper or builder.

It is imperative that the pergola is affixed to a robust surface, and beneath the finished surface, there must be a secure foundation, such as a concrete pad. This preparation should be completed before our installers arrive, as they do not provide groundwork. For assistance with this phase, a local tradesperson would be able to support you.

To aid in the planning process, we offer a floor plan indicating where the floor plates of the pergola will be positioned based on your selected size and orientation. This floor plan is also accessible on the relevant product page on our website.

We recommend concrete pads of approximately 40 x 40 x4 0cm beneath any tiles. If you have decking, we suggest the same approach, or alternatively, incorporating extra structural joists below the decking. Finish your surface completely with tiles or decking so that, upon our installers' arrival, they can drill through the tile or deck and secure it into a robust foundation below.

Choosing your pergola size before initiating any groundwork is advisable. However, if you have already laid the patio or deck, we recommend verifying the stability beneath the surface. Ensure it is secure enough, as Type 1 or sand would not be suitable. Composite decking without a solid foundation beneath would lack the necessary security, unless there are existing structural beams underneath where the footplates will be situated. In such cases, successful installation is feasible, provided all footplates rest on adequately wide structural beams for secure bolting.
